ROBERTO CASTILLO CAMPEÓN CENTROAMERICANO DE DOWNHILL
This past March 24th Our Bother and Friend, Roberto (Teto) Castillo rode his bike to victory in the Central American Championships of Downhill Mountain Biking, the tournament took place in Guatemala and he showed us some real Costa Rican Talent!
In a hard, dry territory and with an amazing breathtaking end Teto got the victory in a really tight final race; only 2 thousandths of a second were enough to snatch the title from the former champion Mervin Spiegler a Guatemalan from the Elite category.
“It was an exciting race where Roberto Castillo made an extraordinary decline that kept us with our hearts in our hands until we received the final result, it was only about 2 thousandths of a second he won against Spiegler, in such important tournament class 2 UCI”, said Giovanni Castillo, President of the Association Costar Rican of Downhill-
Besides Teto Castillo who won in the Elite category, the third place went to Costa Rican Ronny Porras Araya, another greatly skilled Costa Rican rider.
“Roberto is an Amazing rider this is his third time wining this Championship Title, collecting the first place 2 times in a row back in 2016 and 2017, and a second place in 2018 this year showing us what is he made of again crowning himself as the National Champion!! We as a family and Country “We are very proud of him, PURA VIDA” – Monkey Mafia

The Downhill (DH) MTB is a genre of mountain biking practiced on steep, rough terrain that often features jumps, drops, rock gardens and other obstacles. Downhill bikes are heavier and stronger than other mountain bikes and feature front and rear suspension with over 8 inches (20 cm) of travel, to glide quickly over rocks and tree roots. In competitive races, a continuous course is defined on each side by a strip of tape. Depending on the format, riders have a single or double attempt to reach the finish line as fast as possible, while remaining between the two tapes designating the course without crashing.
CONGRATULATIONS TETO! WE’RE PROUD TO HAVE YOU IN THE FAMILY
